Brattleboro History Podcast

Each week the Brattleboro Historical Society works with area middle school students to produce a radio show for WTSA FM, a podcast posted on Soundcloud.com and a newspaper article for the weekend edition of the Brattleboro Reformer.  We focus on local history topics.  Students conduct research, submit interviews, record audio segments and organize local stories for these media outlets. We call it Making History…

On the Road

In early November, members of our, This Week in Brattleboro History podcast team traveled to Killington, where they gave a talk to school administrators at the VT-Fest ed-tech conference. Upon their return, they filed this report.

BHS e225- The Story of the Valley Fair

It was 1886 and a local committee decided to hold an agricultural fair on the outskirts of town. The first year resulted in a $300 profit and from there the Valley Fair Association was formed. The organization purchased land which presently includes the high school, middle school, career center and town garage, and the Fairgrounds was established. Here’s the rest of the story…
